Koinonia House Announces Death of Founder

Large Banner Chuck Missler

Reporoa, NZ — Koinonia House announces the death of its Founder and retired Board Chairman, Dr. Charles W. “Chuck” Missler. He was 83 years old, and passed away peacefully at his home in Reporoa, New Zealand. He was preceded in death by his wife Nancy and his two sons, Charles “Chip” and Mark. He is survived by two daughters, Lisa Bright and Meshell Missler, and eight grandchildren.

Two Careers in One Lifetime

Dr. Missler was fond of saying that he enjoyed two careers following his graduation from the United States Naval Academy and service in the armed forces: leading edge technology ventures and biblical studies. Truly, the passion of his life was encouraging of others to commit to the serious study of the Bible as the inerrant Word of God.

Biblical Studies and Koinonia House

Dr. Missler gained international recognition as a Bible scholar, author and teacher. Through an informal affiliation with Calvary Chapel of Costa Mesa, California, Chuck became known for his insight into the integration of Scripture with science, history and prophecy. Over more than forty years, literally millions of Dr. Missler’s teachings have been distributed and enjoyed. From cassette tapes to MP3 audio down loads, from VCR tapes to YouTube videos, the message of “The Grand Adventure” has been enjoyed by many.

American Technology Ventures

During his thirty year business career, Chuck served on the Board of Directors of over a dozen public companies, and was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of five of them. Dr. Missler received a Congressional appointment to the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. Upon graduating with honors, he received his commission in the U.S. Air Force. When he had completed his military obligations, he became Branch Chief of the Department of Guided Missiles at Lowry Air Force Base.

Chuck completed a Masters Degree in engineering at UCLA with additional post-graduate studies in applied mathematics, advanced statistics, and information sciences; he completed his PhD at Louisiana Baptist University. His civilian career began as a systems engineer at TRW, followed by a Senior Analyst position in a “think tank” serving both the intelligence community and the Department of Defense.

Recruited by the Ford Motor Company into a Senior Management position, Chuck established the first international industrial computer network in 1966. Leaving Ford to start his own company, he founded a computer networking organization later acquired by Automatic Data Processing (NYSE) to become its Network Services Division. He subsequently served as a consultant to the Board of Directors of Rockwell International for corporate acquisitions (which included Collins Radio, American Data Systems, and others); and has also participated in over 100 business ventures as a principal, strategic advisor, or turnaround specialist.

His final consultancy in the American technology sector was as an advisor to the Super-Wide Area Satellite (SWANsat) System, an international telecommunications venture.
After being a lifelong citizen of the United States, Dr. Missler immigrated to New Zealand in 2010 where he resided with his wife Nancy.

A celebration of life service will be held June 2, 2018, at 2pm at Candlelight Christian Fellowship, located at 5725 N. Pioneer Dr., Coeur d Alene, Idaho 83815,

and on the web at https://candlelight.org.

RESURRECTION SUNDAY EVENTS!

RESURRECTION SUNDAY EVENTS!

I should have done this post a long time ago, but sometimes I just get busy. I apologize for forgetting something so important to our listeners!

If you live in the area, you may want to know where you can WORSHIP Our Lord on this very important holiday that we all celebrate. If you need to know where to come celebrate with your brothers and sisters, and don’t have somewhere already lined up, you can :

(1) Go at dawn, and REALLY celebrate the Empty Tomb, to the Easter Sunrise Service at Mandalay Beach. The service starts at 6:30AM, and you can come in your jeans, your pajamas, or whatever makes you feel comfortable. Bring the kids, your coffee, beach chair, warm shoes and blanket to cuddle up and stay warm, and come celebrate the DAWNING of Easter Sunday.   AND/OR… you can go to services later at Calvary Chapel of Oxnard. Easter services are at the regular time at 8AM, 9:30AM, and 11:15AM.  Here are some maps for you so you don’t get lost if you haven’t been there before.

I know for me, it’s a family tradition, Easter Sunrise services. My kids are now in the 30’s (the oldest ones) …and I started taking them when they were about 5. We used to live in Riverside, and there is a small mountain in the center of town. The boy scouts used to light the trail to the top starting around 3AM, and 1/2 the town hiked it while it was still dark. It was a wonderful way to celebrate the resurrection, and to teach my children, and to also start a family tradition that I hope gets passed on. To me, it is the most important holiday of the year. So I pray your resurrection Sunday will also be a great blessing.

OK, here’s the maps:

The one little square is the parking lot you will want to park in, and the bigger square is the area on the beach where the services are typically held. (provided they use the same location they have always used) …of course if I’m wrong, I’m close…just follow the crowd. 🙂

Basically, just take Wooley, or Channel Islands straight out to Harbor, or if you are coming from Ventura, take Harbor Blvd all the way down till you get to Mandalay Beach Road, turn in and take that street straight out to the parking lot! See you there!

Oxnard Youth Worships at Target in Parking Structure

I just really wanted to share this video with you. This young man really inspired me. I haven’t seen youth bold enough for Jesus to openly worship without regard for consequence since I don’t know when. …sometime in the 80’s or 90’s at least. Good for him. What happened to the world where all born again Christians openly showed their love for their love like this young man? I’d like to see it return myself, if it’s possible.

I apologize for the poor video quality. All I had to grab this video was my cell phone. 🙁 By the way, if you know who this talented young man is, please write in tell me so he can get credit for his beautiful voice and music.

Al Pittman:“The Dwelling Place”

Al Pittman:
“The Dwelling Place”

Al Pittman:

“The Dwelling Place”

Al was born in Panama City, Florida in 1955. His father was a career soldier, so the family traveled extensively. In 1973, when Al was seventeen years old, the family returned from a tour in Germany and settled in Colorado Springs. Soon after, Al realized God’s call on his life and began serving in the music ministry as a bass guitarist with a Christian band called, “The Rays of Light.” It was during this time that Al met Norma, and they were married on July 19, 1975.

Al attended Nazarene Bible College in Colorado Springs, graduating in 1977 with a degree in Biblical Studies. Several years later he visited Calvary Chapel, which had opened across the street from where he worked. After attending one service, he was hooked, rejoicing to be taught the Word of God. He couldn’t get enough, and became involved in the worship band at Calvary Chapel, as well as performing with a local contemporary Christian band. In 1980, the Lord granted Al the privilege of becoming a full-time staff member with Calvary Chapel of Colorado Springs, where he conducted Friday evening outreach concerts along with other pastoral duties assigned to him. In 1991 Al and his family moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico, and two years later he joined the staff of Calvary Chapel Albuquerque as an assistant pastor and co-worship leader.

In the spring of 1997 the Lord called Al and his family back to Colorado Springs to pastor Calvary Worship Center. Although this was a difficult decision, they knew the Lord was leading them and they have seen and experienced God’s awesome faithfulness since returning to Colorado Springs, where the fellowship has grown along with their faith. In 2006, Al earned his Master’s degree and in 2012 he earned his Doctorate degree in Ministry from Trinity Southwest University in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Al and Norma are the proud parents of three children, Renee, Nathan and Reggie, as well as proud grandparents. They covet your prayers for their family and ministry as they endeavor to live a life pleasing to the Father. To God be the glory for all He has done and all He will do!
